On a day-to-day basis we tend to use the terms “enclosure” and “cabinet” almost interchangeably, but except in the generic sense that an enclosure is anything that encloses ( not very helpful) we are probably used to using “enclosure” to mean something medium sized to small eg wall mounting to plastic box – while “cabinet” is reserved for free standing or suites of larger units – often around 1800 or 2000mm high.
The size difference of course has an effect on our choice of handle – in terms of style and function – hence we see quarter turn locks on enclosures and swinghandles used for cabinets but the actual choice is usually a bit more nuanced than that often depending on the pull down force required to achieve the desired degree of gasket sealing – hence L and T handles are still popular as are insert latches with large keys for extra leverage.
Whatever you decide on we have a handle to suit at our Online store.
